Jira Plans introduced dependency management in two areas, but neither provides a comprehensive view of project dependencies:
Timeline page: This uses a Gantt chart instead of a graph, which is not ideal for managing dependencies. This approach has felt inadequate since advanced roadmaps were introduced.
Dependencies page: Although this page attempts to visualize dependencies using a graph, it remains a fragmented graph as it does capture important information such as parent/child relationships.
Moreover, Visual Backlog integrates well with the existing Jira board and requires less context switch as it is local to the project a team owns.
